چکیده
Coral reefs are the most diverse and productive marine ecosystems on earth. The National Museum of Marine Biology Aquarium has cultured more than 35 species corals for research. When we conducted asexual propagation corals, octocoral Sinularia flexibilis released a black pigment that stained operator’s hands black. This is first reported case skin being dyed while propagating corals. We quantified blackness stain by using RGB value color. longer coral contacted skin, darker became. Incubating tentacles S. in high-salinity filtered seawater increased amount released. However, collecting 100% was exceedingly challenging because it very sticky constantly entangled with Symbiodiniaceae. Furthermore, were unable to identify any solvents could dissolve pigment. structure function merit further study as potential become new dye human industries.

Terpenoids from the Octocoral Sinularia gaweli
Two eudesmane sesquiterpenoids, verticillatol (1) and 5α-acetoxy-4(14)-eudesmene-1β-ol (2) and two cembrane diterpenoids, (-)-leptodiol acetate (3) and sinulacembranolide A (4) were isolated from the octocoral Sinularia gaweli and compounds 2-4 are new isolates. The structures of new terpenoids 2-4 were elucidated by spectroscopic methods and by comparison the spectral data with those of known ...

A new norcembranoidal diterpene, 1-epi-sinulanorcembranolide A (1), and a new cembranoidal diterpene, flexibilin D (2), were isolated from the soft corals, Sinularia gaweli and Sinularia flexibilis, respectively. The structures of new metabolites 1 and 2 were elucidated by spectroscopic methods, and compound 2 was found to significantly inhibit the accumulation of the pro-inflammatory iNOS and ...

Chemical examination of the Taiwanese soft coral Sinularia flexibilis led to the isolation of five cembrane-based diterpenoids 1-5, including two new metabolites, 11-acetylsinuflexolide (1) and 11-acetyldihydrosinuflexolide (2). The structures of the new metabolites were determined based on extensive spectroscopic analysis, particularly mass spectrometry and 2D NMR (1H-1H COSY, HMQC, HMBC, and...

A known norcembranoidal diterpene, 5-episinuleptolide (1), along with a new analogue, 4α-hydroxy-5-episinuleptolide (2), were isolated from a cultured-type soft coral Sinularia numerosa. The structures of 1 and 2 were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic methods and by comparison of the data with those of the related metabolites. Cytotoxicity of metabolites 1 and 2 against a panel of tumor ...
متن کاملHerbivory in the soft coral Sinularia flexibilis (Alcyoniidae)
Our work provides strong support for the hypothesis that Sinularia flexibilis ingests diatoms such as Thalassiosira pseudonana. We assessed algal ingestion by S. flexibilis through estimates of algal removal, histological analyses, scanning electron microscopy observations, and gene expression determination (18S and silicon transporter 1) by real time PCR. Cell counts are strongly suggestive of...
